Climate
Bodegas Conrad has a microclimate that is significantly different from the normal Andalusian climate. We could call it Mediterranean, semi-continental, sub-humid of the Sierra de las Nieves, with winter rains and long and dry summers; perfect climatic conditions for producing healthy grapes that reach optimum ripening. The large temperature differences between day and night favour great natural acidity and the accumulation of intense aromas and flavours in our grapes.
Vineyard
Our principal grape varieties are Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo. Over the last 10 years we have specialised in the production of Malbec which has adapted very well to the climate, altitude and the soils of our plots.
Each grape variety is cultivated and harvested separately with the objective of extracting the maximum expression of fruit from them.
Soils
Our vineyards are situated in an area where there is a bedrock of metamorphic origin that has been covered, by colluvial action, with material originating from the slopes of the Sierra de las Nieves. The resulting soils are calcareous clays, composed of a high percentage of calcium carbonate and marine fossils, showing that the area was under water millions of years ago.
We feel privileged that our vines are able to transmit the complexity, freshness and mineralty of millions of years of geological history in each glass of wine.
Our team
The people who work in Bodegas Conrad are very important to us, as they are the ones who each year interpret the development of the vineyard to extract the maximum expression from each vine.
